Primary
Year 2 - Year 6
At HCIS Primary we follow The Cambridge Primary Curriculum, which is aimed at Year 1 to Year 6. (5 to 11 year olds) Our aim is to develop the 10 core subjects through an enquiry based learning approach with a strong focus on the development of problem solving and thinking skills. Incorporated into the curriculum are inbuilt, deliberate reflection strategies which help learners to develop complex thinking processes. Innovation and creativity are a fundamental aspect of the Cambridge curriculum and this allows our students to apply their imagination and creativity to their learning, allowing them to express themselves. We aim to encourage our children to be global citizens through projects that nurture strong personal characteristics alongside high levels of academic performance.
We incorporate ‘Talk for Writing’ techniques in our English lessons. This is a teaching framework which helps our children to learn the language they need before they then analyze it and use it in their writing. This technique has been found to substantially increase rates of children’s progress and help with language acquisition.
